The NCTA Maintenance Council is an organization for transportation maintenance professionals. The main purpose of The Maintenance Council is to provide a forum for people to share information, promote professional maintenance practices and network with suppliers and peers in the industry.
Membership is made up of personnel from both for hire and private trucking operations as well as industry suppliers. We currently have over 200 members including truck user technicians, managers and supervisors; dealer service and parts people; as well as industry suppliers…in short, any one who has an interest in the truck transportation industry.
There are four chapters (Charlotte, Triad, Eastern and Western) and each holds monthly meetings with a program on a maintenance related topic. In addition, we hold a number of state wide functions including a golf outing in the spring and our annual convention and seminar.
Perhaps the Maintenance Council’s most popular functions are the TECH NIGHT PROGRAMS. NCTA Maintenance Council TECH NIGHT PROGRAMS are designed to provide practical, real world training that maintenance personnel can use immediately. In 2004 we held two TECH NIGHTS. Dan Sullivan of Sullivan Training Systems conducted an extremely useful 2 hour clinic on electrical troubleshooting in June. In October, Sam Mask and Tom MacKay of ArvinMeritor conducted an outstanding training program on Anti-Lock Braking Systems. A combined total of more than 200 technicians, supervisors and managers representing more than 50 companies participated in these two outstanding programs. The programs have been very well received and additional programs are planned for 2005. For more information about TECH NIGHT PROGRAMS contact your Chapter Officers or call 704-483-9428.
The NCTA Maintenance Council also sponsors scholarships and other development programs such as the Maintenance Council HEATT Toolbox Scholarship at CPCC and other community colleges.
